Preservation

 When I began my unofficial search for my family connections in the late 1970’s, I didn’t think about preserving what I’ve discovered. However, as I look back over my journey, I’ve been doing it without thinking about it.

And through the years, I have begun to gather what I have accumulated along the way. I have photos, letters, stories of what my parents shared with me about what they knew of the family history and so forth.

So, what am I doing to preserve my family history?
And how have I been leaving what I’ve discovered for future generations?

Over the decades, on my journey, I’ve been journaling and thinking about some of my relatives. I have been leaving what I have come across in blogs, on websites and so forth. I’m leaving a trail that others have been following and adding to their collections.

I have created a number of websites where I journal and a Find A Grave Memorial site. I don’t know if the websites will withstand the time of the internet life. Websites come and go. I even set some blogs for future post. One is set for the year 2063. It’s in honor of my 100th birth year.

I have submitted information to book publications that printed what I wrote my relatives. I have made requests if anyone know of my ancestors in magazines and on Ancestry.com. I have pedigree charts and family trees online. I have clipped newspaper articles online.

I have shared with my facebook family connections groups about every day on In Memory of loved ones. I see the more I have shared with others, the family connections may be remembered by others who are searching as well.

I continue to search for leads and places to plant seeds for the future. I see that googles have what I have posted through out time. I don’t know how long google leaves information up. I didn’t get connected with the internet until August 6, 2004.

I hope that to leave what I have compiled on ancestry and the other sites that I have my family history base. There have been some who have asked me if I will write a book. So, far I have not. It’s been an interesting journey on how I stumbled across what I know. I couldn’t have done it with out help. Thank You. LORD!
