Favorite Find

Welcome to the month of March!

I thought to share one of my blogs from another site.

Favorite Find

As I look back over my quest, I see my most favorite find came when I had my 14 day free trial on ancestory.com. This was the start of my family connections journey. I have made lots of finds. And I’m thankful that I have..

I came across my 2nd Great Grandmother Julia White listed on the 1880 while searching for my Great Grandfather, Isaac Blakey. I typed in Isaac White on the Chariton County Missouri census search. The second name I saw on the census was Julia White that made the connections of who Isaac White was.

It was on June 28, 2007.
I made the discovery that my Great Grand Mother Julia White was (listed) on the 1880 census. Something on the inside of me jumped for joy when I saw her name on my computer screen. I said out loud, “Thank You, Jesus!”

I started singing and praising God. I keep looking at the screen. I have located my ancestors. What an accomplishment!

I looked at the names that followed after my Great Grandmother. Her son, my Great Grandpa Isaac with the White surname. The other names were familiar too. I thought yes, I have found my ancestors.

Schedule 1 ~ Inhabitant in of Chariton Township in the county of Howard in the State of Missouri: Date encumbered by J. B. Hariston on June 6, 1880, page 10 ~ Supervisor’s Dist. No 5 ~ Dist. No 101 United States Federal Census

Name Age Julia White 60, Isaac White 30,  Spencer White 28, John White 26, David White 22, Josh White 20, Martha White 18, Rachel White 29, John White 10, Mary White 8, Andrew White 6, Julia White 4, Henry White 2,  Rebcca White 10, Andrew White 2,

(The above names were added to this blog.) I noticed some things about my ancestors lived together by reading this census. There were three generations living in one household. The family stayed together.

I had my heart’s desire to find out who my ancestors were. I am thankful for the leading of the Holy Spirit.  I had thought that my Great Grandmother Julia had passed by 1880.  There were not family record of who my Great Grandfather’s name was.  I thought the day was on August 7 , 2007. Mystery Solved.

I thank God for putting the desire in me to search for my family history. May I continue on this search for information by the grace of God. (Amen.)

P.S
I’m still making new discoveries. This past week I was searching. I came across more information through death records and census returns. My mind is wondering. I’m finding more pieces to the puzzle. My quest continues.

After thoughts: January 15, 2022.
Even as I re read what I wrote in 2007, I have made more discoveries on this lineage. If you noticed the family unit above Julia’s is listed an Isaac White. I believed that they were related. Thank You, LORD!

Thanks for reading.

Week 2: Favorite Find ~ Generations Café via facebook ~ Amy Johnson Crow

Week 2’s theme is “Favorite Find.” This could be a discovery that you made from breaking down a brick wall or something that just made you smile. (Like on my ancestor’s Civil War pension application when it asked, “Is there an official record of your marriage?” and he answered, “No, it’s recorded at the courthouse.” Sometimes, you just have to laugh.)

Remember, there is no right or wrong way to interpret the theme. Whatever it sparks you to write is the right way!
